Commercial Windows

CWD window systems are suitable for all types of buildings where casement, tilt-before-turn, pivot and top-swing windows are specified. All our window systems are designed to meet the relevant British and European standards.

Materials

Aluminium profiles are extruded from aluminium alloy 6063 or 6060 complying with the recommendations of BS EN 755-9. Thermal breaks are either polyurethane or polyamide.

Finishes

Window sections can be finished in either organic powder coat to BS6496 or anodising to BS3987. Certain systems are available with differing colours externally and internally.

Construction

Frame members are mitred and assembled using extruded cleats and stainless steel chevrons to reinforce the corner joints, which are then crimped. Intermediate mullions and transoms are fixed using stainless steel screws driven into screw ports in the extrusions or purpose made cleats. All frame joints are sealed against entry of water during assembly. Extruded plastic weather-strips complete the seal between fixed and opening lights.

Glazing

The glazing (glass or panels) is set in PVC Nitrile or EPDM gaskets, which are retained in undercut grooves in the aluminium profiles and held secure by wedge gaskets internally. Tape glazing or mastic glazing is optional depending on requirements. Glazing beads can be internal or external.

Glass conforms to BS6262 and BS6206 for both thickness and type. Double glazed units conform to BS EN1279.

Performance

CWD windows have been tested to BS6375 part1 and have achieved the following results:

600 Pa Air Permeability
600 Pa Water-tightness
2400 Pa Wind Resistance

This should be sufficient for any location within the UK.

The thermal performance of our windows satisfies or exceeds the current requirements of approved document L when glazed with glass of the appropriate ‘U’ value.

Windows from the CWD range have been tested to BS7950 Part 1 as generally accepted on “Secure by Design” projects.

Furniture

CWD window systems are designed to accept virtually any British or European window hardware. Handles, hinges, trickle ventilators, restrictors and other items are available in a range of finishes and styles to suit any project.

Development

CWD pursue a policy of continuous development and reserve the right to change their product specifications without prior notice.
